<<    >>

Matthew Hilton is currently exhibiting new work with fellow celebrated British artists and designers at Artists' House, New Art Centre, Roche Court. The exhibition, titled A Group Design Show, features 5 new limited edition furniture pieces designed specially by Matthew Hilton for the show. These include Mary's Chair, inspired by the deceptively delicate concrete architecture of The Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption in San Francisco; Roche chair, a three-legged chair born of disparate influences including the aforementioned cathedral and a Spanish country chair occupying Hilton's parents' home since the 1970s; Irish chair, inspired by a vernacular Irish chair in the extended family's Scottish home; Bookcase, designed as a practical storage solution with sliding doors to provide playful aesthetic variety; and a special edition Mars Table. Sales queries for these five designs should be directed to: New Art Centre, Roche Court, East Winterslow, Salisbury, Wiltshire SP5 1BG. Exhibition runs until 4 May. http://www.sculpture.uk.com/exhibitions/current/

In 2009, Leif.designpark and fellow artists established APLUS, a non-profit organisation commited to promoting quality art and design. Located in the former Tokyo Metropolitan Waterworks Bureau in Tokyo's Arakawa ward, APLUS is a multi-purpose studio for artists and designers.
